Color Breeders Championship Futurity

Each year, the Color Breeders Championship Futurity (Color BCF) awards an estimated $100,000 purse across a full slate of competitive classes. Designed for breeders, owners, trainers, and exhibitors, the Color BCF is held annually in conjunction with the NSBA World Championship Show

This program is open to horses registered with an NSBA’s recognized color breed association: APHA, PtHA, ApHC, IBHA, ABRA or PBHA), including breeding stock horses except those horses registered solely as PtHA Solid Bred.

Eligibility

To be eligible, a horse must be sired by a stallion nominated to the Color BCF during the foaling year. Eligible horses may be enrolled from weanling through six years of age.

Per NSBA Rule 85, a solid-bred or breeding stock horse is considered a “color horse” only if the sire or dam has regular registry papers with SPHS, ApHC, ABRA, IBHA, PHBA, PtHA, or POA. Horses registered solely as PtHA Solid Bred do not qualify unless also registered with one or more of the above associations

Stallion Nominations - Fees:

  • $500 - if nominated By May 15 of foaling year
  • $800 - if nominated After May 15 (fee applies per foaling year)

Foal Enrollments - Fees:

  • By December 15th of foaling year: $125

(Sliding scale available multiple foals)

  • December 16th - May 15th of yearling year: $200
  • After May 15th of yearling year through six years of age: $1,000

Purse Payout Distribution

  • 20% - Stallion Nominator
  • 10% - Foal Nominator
  • 70% - Current Foal Owner

(All recipients must be current NSBA members to receive payment)

Class Offered

A total of 23 classes are offered in the Color Breeders Championship Futurity, including:

  • Longe Line
  • Western Pleasure
  • Hunter Under Saddle
  • Trail
  • Western Riding

Classes are offered across Open, Non Pro, and Limited divisions.

A $45 transaction fee applies

  • Ownership transfers
  • Horse name changes
  • Replacement of lost certificates

A copy of horse's current registration papers must accompany any transfer request.

Program Enrollment

Any program enrollment meets Certificate of Registration requirement. Enrollment provides the additional opportunity to earn money through the Breeders Championship Futurity, Color Breeders Championship Futurity, Ranch Breeders Championship Futurity, and Incentive Fund.
