NSBA Incentive Fund and Stallion Service Auction
The Incentive Fund rewards enrolled horses for earning NSBA points at Dual Approved Shows and Special Events. Payout are made annually, based on points earned in Open and Amateur classes (excluding Novice and Green). In 2024, the NSBA point value was $30.25. Enrolled horses are eligible to earn Smart Points. Payout
Proceeds from the Stallion Service Auction fund the Incentive Fun payout for point earning horses.
Distributions are as follows:
- 10% - Stallion nominator
- 10% - Foal nominator
- 80% - Current foal owner
(A current NSBA membership is required to receive payment)
Eligibility
Eligibility is based on by the sale of the sire’s breeding through the NSBA Stallion Service Auction during the foaling year. Eligible horses may be enrolled from weanling through two years of age.
Foal Enrollments Fees:
- $125 - By December 15 of foaling year
(Sliding scale available for multiple foals)
- $200 - December 16 – May 15 of yearling year
- $1,000 - After May 15 of yearling year
- $2,000 - Two year olds
Stallion Service Auction
- Begins October 1 each year
- For the month of October, breeding services offered at 75% of advertised fee
- November 1 - June 30: breeding services offered at 50% + $100 administrative fee
- Minimum stallion sale price: $400 - includes $300 minimum breeding fee + $100 administrative fee
- Private Treaty Stallions: $700 - $600 private treaty fee + $100 administrative fee
- Mare owner must be current NSBA members to purchase breedings
Grandfather Clause
If a stallion was not enrolled or sold in the Stallion Service Auction during the foaling year, it may still be made eligible via the grandfather clause:
- Pay $800 to nominate stallion making the foal crop from that year eligible to enroll
- If the free is paid by someone other than the stallion owner, a signed waiver from the stallion owner must be submitted
Transfers & Certificate Changes
A transaction fee of $45 applies for:
- Ownership transfers
- Horse name changes
- Duplicate certificates requests
A copy of the horse's registration papers showing current ownership must accompany all transfer requests.

Online Registration
Any program Enrollment meets the Certificate of Registration requirement. Enrollment provides the additional opportunity to earn money through the Breeders Championship Futurity, Color Breeders Championship Futurity, Ranch Breeders Championship Futurity, and Incentive Fund.
